Ms. Alyssa Wagner grew up in beautifully simple North Dakota, and went to college in the forests of northern Minnesota where she graduated from Bemidji State University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Secondary History. She moved to Houston to student teach and liked life in the big city so much she decided to stay.
Ms. Wagner spent the first few years of her career teaching elementary math, science, and social studies before getting the best job ever as an art teacher. Ms. Wagner started an art program as well as a 4th grade Art Club at Calvert Elementary School in Aldine ISD. in the fall of 2018, she had the great honor of opening Steve Mead Middle School as their first 7th and 8th grade and art 1 art teacher.
Ms. Wagner is the sponsor for Mead Middle School's National Junior Art Honor Society, coach for Mead's UIL A+ Art Smart team, Texas Art Education Association's Region 4N co-director for the Texas Elementary Art Meet, was one of four 2018 Texas Art Education Association Leadership Scholars, she was a 2019 Texas Art Education Association Conference chair and she is also one of the hosts of the Aldine Broadcast Network’s “Let’s T.A.C.O. ‘Bout It.” Ms. Wagner has also recently been named one of nominees for the Texas Art Education Association's Middle School Teacher of the Year in 2020.
In her spare time, Ms. Wagner loves to read, watch movies, travel, spend time with family and spoil her niece, Bennett and her nephew, Cooper. Ms. Wagner also loves to have "Thursday night dinner" with her friends and cheer on Philadelphia Eagles and the North Dakota State University Bison during football season.
